Dad Hats & Low-Profile Caps
These have no structure. If you put a thick leather patch on them, the hat collapses around it. We recommend Woven or Direct Embroidery for these to maintain a comfortable fit.
Beanies & Cold-Weather Headwear
You can’t iron onto a knit beanie easily; the glue doesn’t grab the yarn well. We recommend Sew-On Leather or Fold-Over Woven Labels that stitch onto the cuff.

FACTORY INSIGHT THE “2.25 INCH” RULE
The biggest mistake we see is artwork that is too tall. The usable vertical space on a standard trucker hat (like a Richardson 112) is only about 2.25 inches. If you go taller than that, the patch starts to curve over the top of the head or hits the brim at the bottom.
Production Tip: Keep your design wide and short (landscape orientation) for the best fit on a hat.
